She has spent time away from her family in Canada to raise support for this special project. She is motivated by the memory of her cousin, killed June 8, 1972, the day she suffered her dreadful injury. Project: | 2018 War Child Holland |
Country: | Holland |
Purpose: | Kim was invited by War Child Holland to explain her story in her new book "Fire Road", translated into Dutch (called "Het Napalmmeisje").
War Child works toward a world in which no child's life is torn apart by war. Armed conflict is a reality for millions of children today. War Child is committed to supporting these children to overcome their experiences, and have a real chance at a better future. Children and young people have the right to grow up free from fear and violence, to develop to their full potential and contribute to a peaceful future - for themselves and for their communities. Because no child should be part of war. Ever. |

Project: | High Adventure Gospel Communication Ministries Canada Partnership - Uganda Ongutoi Project |
Country: | Uganda (Ongutoi) |
Purpose: | |
Context: | Ongutoi village leaders unanimously requested immediate support (nurses and medicines) followed by building a larger medical facility from their government following the end of the 20-year civil Lord's Resistance Army insurgency, but having received no favorable response due to lack of government funding, chose to make this same request to HAGCM. After emergency treatment, the largest immediate and identifiable need made by the elders was for well health maternity care including sanitary delivery. Mothers of all ages face life threatening issues due to a total lack of any pregnancy-related care. To become pregnant is for some, tantamount to a death warrant. Just recently, several young women died who attempted to ride on the back of a bicycle (sole mode of transportation) to a distant (40 KM) government medical facility. |

Project: | Nakyessa Day and Boarding School |
Country: | Uganda |
Purpose: | To provide educational facilities and programs that will enable teenage Ugandans at the school and from this rural village to complete their High School education. |
Context: | Over ninety percent of Ugandan children drop out before completing their high school education thus leaving them without skills to become contributing participants within Ugandan society. Most often the cause is the lack of facilities and programs. The situation becomes exacerbated in rural areas such as Nakyessa where the cost to relocate to Kampala is inhibitive. |
Assistance: | Recognizing this critical need, the Kim Foundation International has provided the resources to construct a building for four Classrooms, two Teachers Rooms and an Administration Center that will support the A-Level Academic Development of eighty students. The work is being completed with local labor applying western construction methodology. |
